Big ambition. Limited floor space.
The idea grew out of my previous work in payments. Encouraged to build a business of my own, I used commissions I had earned to start Hexopay.
The early office was meant for two people. There were four of us. Space was limited; ambition was not. There were nights when I slept in the office and days spent trying to turn an idea into something clients could actually use.
The proposition was straightforward: make payment integration simpler for gaming businesses. Behind that simple idea sat the work of connecting systems, developing technology and building relationships across markets.
Connections take people.
I travelled to meet prospective clients and partners, while the team worked to develop the business and its technical offering. Growth meant bringing in people to support the operation, strengthening leadership and investing in compliance.
Looking back, the work I remember is practical: conversations with clients, technical problems to solve and colleagues working through the next challenge. A payments business is built through those everyday decisions as much as through the original idea.
